'Polish Tourist Poster'
Main Gallery, 14th May 2007 - 30th June 2007
The exhibition showed approximately 230 posters from the period 1946-1991, which were designed and printed to promote Polish towns and regions as well as tourist services. On the posters Poland appears as an extremely attractive journey and trip destination that has been not inferior to popular European centers. Viewer finds out that Poland is a 'paradise for anglers' and 'country of hunting' as well as an area, on which many diverse cultures have crossed, that has resulted in an unusually rich artistic and historical heritage. Exhibition in Poster Museum at Wilanów proved that in spite of a long isolation Poland has offered to tourists from all over the world a wide range of entertainments and artistic experiences appropriate to a country in the middle of Europe, on the border of cultures. Posters presented on the exhibition reflected a variety of artistic means of expression and sources of inspiration of Polish post-war poster designers. To mention a few, one could find drawing, photographic and painted posters designed by such masters as Henryk Tomaszewski or Waldemar Świerzy. Curator of the exhibition: Dorota Parszewska Assistant of the curator: Monika Lebiedzińska
